What We Do:

The Leney Awards Trust help young adults, aged between 16 and 19, in their charitable pursuits overseas. By granting bursaries or maintenance allowances of up to £2, 500, the Trust have kick started the adventure of a lifetime for countless teenagers while also ensuring that many fantastic causes have been supported.
Trustees would expect the project to be of a humanitarian nature in less well-developed regions and of benefit to the local community and not just a period of time spent overseas on holiday, structured school visits or periods of paid employment in more advanced areas. Generally this will mean being away for a minimum of four weeks.
Grants are not intended to cover total costs. Parents' contributions, individual initiative and other sources of fundraising or sponsorship will be taken into account.
Who Can Apply:

Pupils who are over the age of 16 and are attending schools in Kent, Medway, Bexley or Bromley or have left such a school in the last 12 months can apply for a travelling award from the Hugh and Montague Leney (Travelling) Awards Trust.
Preference will be given to pupils who are in their final school year, who have shown qualities of leadership and whose venture is likely to help their future life and career. Individuals and small groups are encouraged to use their initiative in the planning and fulfilment of worthwhile projects and in their commitment to the less fortunate.
